FAQ

What kind of game is Scavengers?

A free online survival RPG about life on the streets. You start broke with a knapsack, scrounge cans and bottles out of bins and alleys, cash them in at the bottle bank and work your way up from alley drifter to king of the underpass. Along the way you deal with winter cold, summer heat and strangers who want you gone.

How do you make money in Scavengers?

Scrounge cans and bottles from bins, alleys and dumpsters, then cash the bag in at the bottle bank in the mall. Every can pays a few cents, so knowing the good spots matters. Trading with other players comes with the full multiplayer game.

Is Scavengers free to play?

Yes. Scavengers is free to play: $0, no download and no account. Hit Play free and you're standing in the camp. The desktop launcher is free too.

Can I play with my friends?

That's the plan. Scavengers is an MMO, so the full game puts everyone on the same streets, and crews let you team up, split the haul and guard your camp. Today's browser alpha is a solo preview of the camp while we build the servers.

What platforms are supported?

You can play in your browser right now. The desktop launcher runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, and Android and iOS apps are on the way.

How do I join a crew?

Crews arrive with the full multiplayer game. You'll join one from the camp noticeboard, or start your own and recruit.

What happens at higher ranks?

There are 5 ranks: alley drifter, can collector, dumpster diver, camp boss and king of the underpass. Every rank opens up more of the city: better spots to scrounge, bigger deals and in the end a camp of your own to run.

Can I play on mobile?

Native Android and iOS apps are coming. For now Scavengers plays best in a desktop browser or through the desktop launcher.

Is there a single player mode?

Scavengers is built as an MMO, so the full game is online with other players. The current browser alpha is single player, which makes it a good place to learn the ropes before the streets fill up.

What do I need to run it?

A recent version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari with WebGL2. The launcher needs a 64-bit Windows, macOS or Linux machine.
